AI for AEC
Nick Koudas and Nilesh Bansal have spent 30+ years advancing knowledge and designing commercial applications of machine learning and Artificial Intelligence. As researchers at the University of Toronto, Department of Computer Science, they have authored 200+ research papers and patents advancing the field. Together, they have founded two AI-driven companies – Sysomos and Aislelabs – that they built to become segment leaders serving many of the Fortune 500 enterprises. In 2022 they founded Workorb AI and are co-leading it to advance AI in the AEC sector.
Nick Koudas, PhD
Nick is a seasoned entreprenur, advisor, and researcher. At Workorb AI, he leads the mission to deliver transformative value for architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) firms by aligning advanced AI technology with specific industry needs. Friendly and insightful, Nick frequently speaks at industry associations and conferences, helping AEC leaders understand AI’s potential and navigate its responsible adoption in their businesses.
Nick holds a doctorate in Computer Science from the University of Toronto, where he is also a professor specializing in machine learning and artificial intelligence. With over 150 patents and peer-reviewed publications, Nick is a respected voice in the tech community and an active advisor to Toronto’s startup ecosystem.
Nilesh Bansal, PhD
Nilesh is an accomplished researcher and product innovator with deep expertise in artificial intelligence, big data, and natural language processing. At Workorb AI, he drives the development of cutting-edge products tailored to the needs of AEC firms, maintaining a hands-on approach to ensure smooth adoption and workflow integration for clients.
Nilesh earned his doctorate in Computer Science from the University of Toronto and has authored over 20 patents and peer-reviewed publications. He is widely recognized for his contributions to AI research and has received accolades for his leadership in both technology and business.

Russell Pollard, MBA
Russell leads Workorb AI’s marketing and business development activities. Prior to joining Workorb AI, he worked as a professional services marketer and management consultant, helping AEC firms improve their marketing and business development capabilities and workplace culture practices. Russell values genuine relationships and focuses on generating value for clients.
Russell has a Master of Business Administration and bachelor’s in interdisciplinary leadership studies. He is a Past-President and member of SMPS Ontario. He is also a member of ULI Toronto and past participant of the Curtner Urban Leadership Program.
